How do I create an account?
Choose Create account and enter your name, email, city and ZIP code. Other profile fields are optional. Check your email for a password-setup link, set a password of at least 12 characters, then log in. If the message does not arrive, check spam and use Forgot password to request another link.
Why am I asked to sign up?
Browsing the candidate directory is public. Opening candidate profiles, comparing candidates, and accessing Community or Groups require an account. Your custom signup screen preserves the page you were trying to open. Already a member? Use Log in.
Does my ZIP code identify my exact ballot?
No. ZIP codes can cross voting districts. Use your registered address and official election information to confirm your districts and sample ballot. MyVotePolitics.com is an independent directory, not a government website.
Saved candidates & My Ballot
Where do saved candidates appear?
Saved candidates is your private shortlist of profiles to revisit. It is separate from My Account and from the candidate choices you make in My Ballot.
Where do my ballot choices appear?
Your confirmed races, selected candidates and notes are stored in My Ballot for your account. They do not publish to Community. Saving a choice is a planning aid; it does not cast a vote or register you to vote.
How do I remove a ballot choice?
Uncheck the candidate or race. Wait for the saved confirmation before leaving. If saving fails, your current edits remain on screen; use the retry action. Your confirmed selections should stay removed when you reload.
Why are some issue answers missing?
Only published candidate answers are used for issue comparisons. Not provided means no answer is available; it does not mean support, opposition or agreement. Candidate biographies are not used to infer positions.
Community & groups
How do I post?
Log in, open Community and publish your separate community profile. Write a post, choose its audience and press Share post. Community members can see community posts; friends-only posts are limited to accepted friends and their author; group conversations are limited to group members. Site administrators can review content for moderation.
How do groups and friends work?
Browse groups and choose Join for any community you want to participate in. Leaving a group removes your access to its conversations. Friend requests must be accepted before someone is an accepted friend. Joining a party group does not update your private account affiliation.
How do I report a post or reply?
Use Report on the parent conversation and explain which post or reply needs review. The report goes to the site administrator’s review queue. Reporting does not automatically remove content.
Why does mobile show only six posts?
Mobile loads six posts at a time. Use Load more posts to see the next six. Refresh checks for newer posts.
What are sample members?
Profiles marked Sample member and their sample posts are fictional examples. Their portraits are AI-generated. They are not real community participants or candidates.
Community rules
- Discuss policies and ideas respectfully. No harassment, threats, hate or impersonation.
- Protect privacy. Do not post another person’s private contact details or sensitive information.
- Share sources for factual claims. Separate opinion from verified election information.
- No spam or misleading claims about voting dates, eligibility or how to cast a ballot.
- Use Report for content needing review. Administrators may hide or remove content and review reports.
This community is for discussion. Confirm voting procedures with your election office.
Privacy & controls
Your private account fields, saved candidates and ballot plan are not published to other members. Your community display name, bio, photo and cover are shared separately when you publish your community profile.
In Community, open Privacy settings to change the shared profile or hide it. Hiding removes the profile from member discovery and disables new posting. It retains your account, groups and existing conversations; it does not delete old posts. Existing posts remain available to their permitted audience. Use the delete control on your own posts or Remove community profile if you want to remove your community data.
Choose the audience before posting. Group membership and activity may reveal interests; a private ballot plan does not make your community activity private. Site administrators can access stored data to operate and moderate the service.
Candidate information & corrections
Read source links on each candidate profile. Biographies and stated priorities are attributed summaries; they are not endorsements. Candidate status and race information can change. An unverified status is labeled for review.
