Christy Brady
I grew up in Olney and now live with my husband and three children in the Fox Chase section of the city. I attended Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science, now Jefferson University, where I majored in accounting. For nearly three decades, I dedicated my career to the Controller’s Office, working to ensure accountability and transparency in city government.
Education and Employment
Christy Brady is a certified public accountant (CPA) and also holds a Certified Global Management Accountant credential. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Philadelphia College of Textiles & Science (now Jefferson University), graduating cum laude. Brady has deep roots in Philadelphia: she grew up in Olney, attended St. Ambrose Elementary and later Cheltenham High School. She lives in Fox Chase with her husband and three children and is active in community volunteering, youth sports coaching, and her children’s schools.
Brady has had an extensive career in the Philadelphia Office of the City Controller, spanning nearly thirty years. She began as an auditor at entry level and rose through roles such as Audit Associate, Audit Supervisor, Audit Manager, and Audit Director. In January 2017, she became the first woman to hold the title of Deputy Controller for Audit, overseeing performance, compliance, and financial audits for city departments and the School District.
She was appointed Acting City Controller by Mayor Jim Kenney in November 2022 after the previous Controller (Rebecca Rhynhart) resigned. Later, she won the November 2023 general election to become City Controller officially.
